Spring Forward

Spring time has finally arrived. Well, at least, as of tomorrow. The grass is turning green, children are playing in the park, and flowers are blooming. It’s the perfect time of year to be caught outside – looking for a new house, and we’ve got just the house for you.

This spacious 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath has much to offer, especially a first time home buyer. Located at the Fairways VI at Bailey Ranch, this home has vaulted ceilings, arched doorways, and a brick/stone exterior. The kitchen, which comes with a dishwasher, disposal, and microwave, has a breakfast nook attached.  The great room can be easily transformed into a cozy living room with the fireplace. The master bath has a whirlpool tub with a separate shower and double  sinks.

Don’t forget about the first time home buyers tax credit. This is valid until April 30,2010. You can read all about it here: www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com.

If you would like more information or are interested in this house, please contact Greg Williams at Properties Plus. The office number is (918)488.8880 and his cell is (918)261.4333. You can also view this house, as well as others, at Properties Plus’ website.

Office Politics

Office politics are fairly new to me. I haven’t been working in an office setting very long. I think I’m adapting quite well, though.

But when it comes around to lunch time, things are a little different at my office. Everyone brings their own food and keeps it in the fridge, freezer, or cabinets. It’s a small office and none of us eat each others food without first asking. There’s always one exception. And this is our exception:

Name: Greg S. Williams.

Occupation: Lunch room thief

Here’s how the situation usually plays out. A couple of us will be in the kitchen eating, and he will walk in the room and ask: “What’s everybody eating?” I’m pretty sure he just does that so he makes sure not to grab out of the cabinet what we are already eating. If I’m eating a poptart, and there’s a box of them, they’re clearly mine. So at least he’s intelligent enough not to do that. So then he will proceed to hold up something, and ask “is this any of yours”? We will shake our heads no. And then he’ll eat it. Usually his lunches consisted of several weird items that I’m pretty sure would not normally mix well. Example: last week he ate a crispy chicken patty with mustard on top and ramen noodles.

Weeks later, that person generally starts to notice their food is missing and then assumes they are the one that ate it. This is all a part of his plan, right? I think so.

The 12 Days of Real Estate… ?

Well, it’s that time of year. Time for everyone to get out their tacky holiday sweaters and choke down some eggnog (does anyone actually like that stuff??).  Time to attend those wonderful Christmas parties and sing songs about snow and presents under the tree.

Properties Plus, also wanting to express our holiday cheer, jumped on the bandwagon and decided to make a Christmas video, for your listening and viewing pleasure (hopefully). It’s our first video, ever. So please excuse us for that. Hopefully we did not embarrass ourselves too badly.

Running out of room?

Do you ever feel like this polar bear? Do you ever feel like your living space is too small? So small and crammed with things that you can’t even fit inside?

Here’s a thought.  Maybe you need more space.  Maybe you need a bigger house.  Maybe you need an extra room instead of a bigger closet.  Just an idea.

Homes are cheap right now.  With all of the foreclosures in the area and the tax credit that is readily available (especially to first time home buyers), it’s a perfect time to buy.  Properties Plus can help you there.  Even if you’re not ready to purchase, you can consider a rental home.  This will allow for more space and room for growth (and you can even purchase a bigger tree at the after Christmas sale since you will have so much more room!!)!

Colder Weather is Coming…

Well, it’s that time of year again. Time to put on as many layers of clothing on as possible so that you can barely move. Or is it? Maybe this year could be different for you. There are ways to ‘winterize’ your home that so you and your family stay warmer without having to spend all your money and waddle around the house like a penguin.

1. Ceiling fans are capable of warming as well as cooling (shocking, I know). Switching your ceiling fan to rotate clockwise will allow the warm air (heat) to circulate and force it down.

2. Invest in a programmable thermostat and turn down the heat when you are gone. (Yes, trust me, your stuffed animals will survive with temperatures at or below freezing.) Even just a degree or two will save you significantly every month.

3. Make sure that your windows and doors have no leaks in them. Warm air can escape and the cool air will quickly find its way in!!

4. Clean out your gutters and drains – clogged drains can cause leaks into the house.

And if you’re too lazy or don’t care to try any of these, bundle up and eat warm soup.

Turkey Day

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching….. I mean it is tomorrow. It’s about this time of year that people tell you to make lists and reflect on what we are most thankful for – friends, family, turkey, shelter, youtube, blogging, water, right ?

Turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, cranberries, green beans, celery, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, pumpkin pie, pecan pie – Americans are creatures of excess.

Don’t forget to think about those that are less fortunate.  It’s important to remember that they need food and clothes, as well.

I hope your turkey is out of the freezer and ready to face the oven.  I hope your Thanksgiving is surrounded by those that mean the most to you.  And I hope that you let them know just how important they are.

Hello Blog World

I work for a property management firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You may have heard of us, Properties Plus, we’re kind of a big deal.  Basically, we are the be all end all of your real estate needs/wants/desires.  We can sell you a house, find you a house to purchase, manage the rental of your existing property, find you a rental home, allow you the use of our community room for all of your non-profit needs, rent out a portion of our office for all of your corporate needs, and we occasionally have free candy at the front desk.

I’m new to the blogging world. I will bring updates often and provide things of value and interest. I will post information about the real estate world, new properties for sale/lease, home decorating tips, ways to save money in this sinking economy, and fun happenings around Tulsa. However, I will not limit myself to only those things. It’s a girls prerogative to change her mind.

I welcome any thoughts or suggestions from anyone. I’m not too proud to say that I don’t know everything (just pretty close to knowing everything).
